And this blog is my latest first.
I was wandering along the streets of old Florence, my eyes wild open, but I almost missed that beautiful drawing of The Girl With The Pearl Earing on the pavement. Actually I almost stepped on it, oups, not very artyright? I thought that was just so well done and completly coming-out-of-nowhere. A few meters away two men were drawing another painting still on the ground. You don't wanna go into a museum? well go down the streets of Florence, it could be just as amazing! The day after, I went back there but the drawings had all vanished. I'm glad I had the chance to shoot them before they went away.
I saw that man coming up from the far end of the sidewalk, I thought mmm this man seems to have something interesting. So I just waited for him to walk by me and I wasn't dissappointed! I mean come on! look at the style he has! The great red hat, the green coat, scarf and gloves! but above all, I love all the rings he got on each finger! Plus, the smoking attitude adds to the look.
I took this one on the Ponte Vecchio. I was lucky that night, the blue of the sky and the Arno was really deep and the lights on the opposite bridge were nice. Actually when I saw that it made me think about Van Gogh. I'm pretty sure if VG had lived in our century he would have been one hell of a photographer! Anyway, Florence by Night? Delizioso!
Ok so here is my new fancy place to shoot! Florence. First time I'm there and oh my god, there's inspiration just round the corner! The smell of leather and pizza, the amazing combination between old and modern architecture, the beautiful light spreading through little streets, and above all... the stunning elegance of Italian men! What's kinda funny is that here men are much more noticable than women, I mean they're really looking good in their perfectly suitted suits, nice scarves, ties, hats, shoes and leather gloves... and a smile in addition, not too bad han? Anyway, I just spent 4 awesome days, but who am I kidding, that's not enough to capture the great halo of this city. Arriverderci people!
What? The Tuileries! again? yes, sorry. So obviously I didn't shoot that picture this week... One thing I love when you take a look at your pictures back on your computer is when you notice something you didn't, while shooting it! For instance here I just shot this guy because I liked how relaxed he was. Now, what I like even more, is the kid staring at us in the newspaper.. you feel he's reallyseeing us, I just like that feeling.
I was in the RER and I noticed this peaceful man. I loved how intense he seemed to feel, and the light spreading on his face, glasses and jacket. He was pretty close to me so I faked watching elsewhere and took the picture without looking. I like the upshot.
Ok so I'm the first to say I hate the subway! I mean seriously, the smell, the dirt, that's a real dump! But I gotta say that's a great place to observe people and have great shots. People are usually focused on something, they're natural, sometimes quite weird or funny. I took that shot before X-mas. It was late, not very crowded, and then this guy sat across my seat. I loved the way he was dressed up, the jacket, the scarf and the hat. Watch out next time you're on the subway... you may end up on my blog ;-)
My name is Mary.
(awkward introduction I know...)
It's a rainy day outside my window so I finally sat down and created my very first blog. I'm not sure I'll do good, but I'll try to keep it updated.
If you like photography, travels, arts, every-day people and very simple things, welcome to my world.
If you don't, well, you're still welcome!
I also write. I will soon put on the blog the first pages of a story I've been writting for the past 5 years.
Short introduction I know,
but I believe less is more, and for those who might know me, well I'm pretty shy so I won't be too chatty, just, well,
me.
